Mroace Adjustable Rectangular Router Jig

Made very very well. It is solid milled aluminum and has an awesome feel. It has got some weight to it and zero flex. Too big of a drop and you might bend it but I feel like you'd have to really try in order to hurt it. The bag is quite nice too and I actually have it hung from the bag strap in the shop.

It is not quite big enough to use for full cabinet door faux panel routing without doing half an resetting. Too much room for error in trying to reset it. Only thing is that it doesnt have dual measurements. It is metric only. Eventually I will get an engraver out and make my own marks on it.

The guides are wide enough that you can use a pilot bit and run on top of them. If you don't have pilot bits you'll have to do some math and use the guides as bumpers to run beside. Either way works.

Clamping system is nice and effective. They slot right into the T track on the underside of the guides.

Never hurts to have more tools in the shop. Happy addition!

The Imbot Adjustable Rectangle Router Jig is very accurate and stable when being used with your router. It enables you to make dado joinery; using the correct bit in your router, it helps to make great molded picture frames. This router jig can be used for many workworking projects from cabinet making to jewelry boxes. It is great for any DIY'er or Pro, saving both time and money. It is great not having to make your own jigs. Would make an excellent gift.

Nice design, good size, sturdy, portable... all good. Made of extruded and machined aluminum with an orange anodized protective coating. Everything, rails and clamps, come in a nicely made storage bag.

Fully adjustable in shape from square to rectangular. Max size is about 24" by 24".

Also provided are four clamps to secure the jig to the workpiece. Each of these clamps has a leg that slides into a groove at the under side of the jig legs. The clamp has a toggle action to easily and firmly hold it to the work piece.

When putting the jig together the first time, I had trouble getting all the pieces assembled. After some frustration, I found that I needed to have the jig at its maximum size to do all the assembly. Then, each leg has a clamp to secure it to the adjacent leg. This clamp is adjustable and requires some patience, but it is effective. Once assembly is accomplished, it is relatively easy to adjust the jig for the size needed. Just make sure each corner is securely tightened.

In setting up the jig for size, there are scales on the inside of the jig legs for english (inch) measurements. That made setup easy... except that one leg is metric only. So, three sides in inches and one side in millimeters! I have no idea why that would be the case, but it is. Now, I can work with that, but wanted to call your attention to that anamoly.

Once set up, the jig has square corners, which I verified with my machinist square. And, the joints are secure, using the adjustable fixture-type toggle clamps at the joints.

Overall, I think this is a great jig. It is light, yet strong, and is fully adjustable for complete customization.

The Imbot rectangular routing jig requires no separate brackets or hardware for connecting the four sides. Instead the connecting bolts are built into the sides. The jig is a little tricky to initially assemble into a rectangle. The best approach I found was to connect them into pairs, then slide the pairs together, making two connections at once (refer to picture). The bolt heads that slide into channels are small, so even this approach takes a little patience. Once the four sides are connected, they can be quickly slid to make the desired rectangle size. The inch scale is on the inside, centimeters are on the outside for all but the longest side, which has only a centimeter scale. Unsure why one side is in centimeters as this does make it somewhat more difficult to verify that the rectangle has perfectly square sides using the scales.

The lever on the bolt heads can be pulled out to disengage during tightening; it is spring loaded and will return once released (refer to picture). This is important as it allows control over where the lever ends up once the bolts are tight. By placing the bolt levers down on all four corners, the router can be used with a guide, so the base rides on top of the fixture. I prefer this approach to the method shown in the instructions of placing the entire router base into the rectangle made by the fixture. In particular, this method works better for cutting juice grooves in cutting boards, which are located at the very edge of the board.

The toggle clamps for holding the routing jig to the table, work the same as track saw clamps. The top of the clamp slides in a channel at the base of the extruded sides, allowing them to be secured at any distance from the base ends. The included fabric case is convenient for holding all of the parts once disassembled, though its build quality was just okay. I was a little surprised at the cost of the jig, which seems expensive for aluminum extruded parts and some clamps. That said, similar jigs are also expensive and they do not include the quick adjustment offered by this one.

This adjustable router jig allows me to easily make perfectly square or rectangular cutouts without having to measure and draw each line. I do a lot of d.i.y wood projects such as shelving, table tops, custom frames, etc and this helps a lot with that. It's also great for cutting holes for light fixtures, ventilation and other similar projects.

I found it easiest to assemble two parts at a time, then connect those together. The angles are perfectly square. The clamps are easy to use and can accommodate widths of up to 1-3/4" (total for work surface thickness plus whatever medium you are working with.)

I do find the markings easy enough to read for now, but they are just printed on, not etched in. If the paint eventually rubs off you won't be able to see those lines and numbers. For this price, I feel they should be etched, but that is the only "con" I can find with this jig, besides that I do think it is a bit overpriced.

This is a well made router jig to cut squares in whatever projects might require it.

You have 4 pieces, one for each side that you can interlock with one another which allows for guided square cuts up to 20" or so and you can cut sizes of any measurement below that with this.

It also comes with 4 clamps that can slide under each rail that can then be used to secure your jig from any movement while cutting.

The 4 rails and clamps come in there own bag that zips up and you can store for when needed.

Overall, the jig is well built aluminum and I had no issues connecting it together so the machining seems well done.

Each rail has a pull up lever you can freely move and tighten or loosen the rails together.

Each rail also has measurements running the entire length which is always a plus when cutting accuracy matters.

So the jig is solid all around.

That said, the price is asking a lot in my opinion.

This is for someone who cuts squares daily or frequently enough to justify the cost.

If you cut squares once in a while, I wouldn't recommend it.

Considering you can make one out of hardwood for about a quarter of the asking price, I think it could be a hard sell too many.

But if you know you will use it frequently and need one that should last many years at a minimum, it is an excellent jig.
